Northern Colorado
Everyone has a dream, Gary and Jan's was a place to enjoy gardening, entertain, have a glass of wine and watch the sunsets. Their jobs had taken then to Japan for work and their instructions to the Alpine Gardens' design team was to create an outdoor kitchen area along with a garden that could withstand the tough climactic conditions of northern Colorado. An outdoor kitchen was concieved with a concrete counter top, under a structure that had easy to care for steel walls that focused the eye on on some of the landscaping fine points. The details on the counter top included ginko leaf imprints and a stylish overhang. A tori was constructed which spanned a walkway of large block solid stone steps. The structure included custom side panels, cherokee rubble columns and stamped concrete flooring. The granite stone lantern from Japan was set by the owner's bridge. Plantings were selected to add year around interest and color. A turf of water saving no mow was seeded inside of the rabbit proof fencing. The owner was tenacious in relocation of the existting rabbit population to the outside of this fence. The front berms had been started by another contractor but were redesigned and installed by Alpine Gardens. This is an ongoing project with an extreme amount of detail and thought being put into it. One of the most fun and ambitious projects we have worked on.
