With an incredible view of the front range, Harold and Judy were looking to update their tired deck, while making it more enjoyable to use. The wood deck was formerly painted white, making it hot in the intense Colorado afternoon sun. The solution was to repair the deck, select a new paint color and add an overhead shade structure to help in the afternoon. A custom pergola was designed to accommodate the challenging roof-lines while respecting the homeowner's request to maintain an open feel to the fabulous mountain view. A lower stone terrace was also added below the deck to create additional seating. Evergreens were installed for some privacy screening in addition to some ornamental trees, shrubs and perennials for color.
